StaffData/StaffRoster

Demographic information on staff who were active employees from December, 2020 to the present. Active staff in any given month are all CDCR employees who are not on long-term leave and have not stopped working for CDCR. Data are updated several times each month and records in more recent months may be added for new employees. Additionally, due to delays in recording of changes in personnel status, some staff may not appear in a given month during which they were active and some staff may appear in a month during which they were not active.

StaffId

Anonymized ID that uniquely identifies the staff member, consistent across all data in the same upload.

BoundedBirthYear

The staff member's birth year. In cases where birth year is greater than 2000 or less than 1949, the years 2000 and 1949 are used respectively. NULL indicates the birth year is unknown.

The decade of the staff's BoundedBirthYear. Note: This column has been deprecated and will be removed in a future release.

Month

Each year and month the staff member was active. Integer value.

Institution

The prison where the staff member primarly worked that month. If primary work location is not a prison, then value is "Other".

Gender

Self-reported gender of staff member. Note, to safeguard against potential identification of individuals, cases where gender is not male or female are set to NULL. Also, self-reported gender may change for a given individual over time.

Ethnicity

Self-reported ethnicity of staff member. NULL indicates ethnicity is unknown. Note that self-reported ethnicity may change for an individual over time.

Zipcode

Residential zipcode of staff member. NULL indicates that a valid Zipcode is missing.

Class

The staff's primary job classification. NULL means job type is unknown.
